This year, our first-ever class at Tarkwa Breman Girls School graduated and sat the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), Ghana’s national exam at the end of Junior High.

All 15 passed with distinction and earned admission to Ghana's most selective public secondary schools, including St Louis Senior High and Archbishop Porter Girls High Schools.

In Ghana, while the government absorbs all official school fees, parents are still fully responsible for the substantial personal and out-of-pocket expenses required for a student to actually attend (about 77% of total costs. See ref: Africa Education Watch Report)

For most farming families, those costs are out of reach, and we know this first-hand. For our girls, travelling from their rural cocoa villages for the first time, over long distances, and with their parents, this estimate jumps to almost 90% of total costs.

Covered by Government (23%)	Paid by Parents & Guardians (77%)
Tuition & Admission Fees	Transportation (Travel to and from school)
Basic Boarding & Meals	The "Prospectus" Items (Metallic trunk, wooden/plastic chopbox, mattress, pillow)
Standard Textbooks	Upkeep & Provisions (Pocket money, extra food/snacks, toiletries, sanitary pads)
Initial School Uniforms	Extra Uniforms & Gear (Extra sets of school clothes, specific undergarments, house dresses)
Examination Fees	Additional Learning Materials (Supplementary books, exercise books, stationery)
Total: $348	Total: $936
+ Tarkwa Breman Girls School students (long distance transportation (with parents), parent visits during visitation hours, shoes, sandals ) : $214 Total (per student/year): $1,150

Our girls competed with students from across the country and won their places on merit.

In 3 years, these girls will graduate and start their journeys as doctors, lawyers, teachers, and professionals, pursuing their many dreams, including becoming Ghana’s First Female President.

The school year has already begun, and our girls are due to report now. Every day she waits is a day of lessons missed. Your gift today puts her in the classroom.

Join the Movement and Change Lives:

Cocoa360 was founded in 2015 by Dr. Shadrack Frimpong in Tarkwa Breman, and that same year we opened Tarkwa Breman Girls School, a tuition-free school for girls. Through our School–Clinic–Farm model, we now serve more than 35,000 farming families across nine communities. We believe a child’s location in a rural, cocoa-growing community should not limit her potential. These 15 girls are proving it.

They did the work. Help them take the next step.

They Earned Their Places. Help Them Get There.

All our 15 graduating girls earned spots at Ghana’s top tuition-free high schools. Yet while classes have started, some are still home because their parents can’t afford non-tuition costs. Help us send them to school by Friday 16, October ($1,000/child).
